METAMEDIA LAUNCHES PUBLISHING ENTERPRISE WITH NEW BUILDING ENGINEER CURRICULUM
GERMANTOWN, MD—MetaMedia Training International, Inc. has entered the world of commercial training products with the establishment of MetaMedia Publishing (MP). The first educational resource from MP, Building Engineer, has been released.
Intended for commercial and professional end-users, MP’s interactive multimedia products will be delivered via a wide array of platforms including eLearning, mLearning, DVD, video, broadband, eBook, and printed book/publication format. Training topics will appeal to the global marketplace, while being offered in multiple languages.
“This new venture takes the MetaMedia brand in an entirely new and exciting direction,” said MetaMedia Publishing President Donna Lynn. “The company will develop multimedia education and reference product lines both independently and in concert with sponsoring organizations, which will take us into a broader, product-oriented market.”
The Building Engineer curriculum was originally created in partnership with a worldwide lodging industry leader. Available online at www.metamediapublishing.com/buildingengineer, the seven-part course provides facilities engineering staff with a thorough understanding of the systems they maintain and the components making up those systems. Learning units include engineering systems and customer comfort, air distribution systems, boilers, cooling systems, building automation and controls, life safety systems, and indoor air quality.
Building Engineer weaves together computer simulations, interactive diagrams, quizzes, creative animation, and more to create a compelling learning experience that has received rave reviews from hundreds of engineers across the country who have taken the online course. It can be used as a stand-alone educational resource or complement traditional classroom training. The eight-hour online course is offered on MetaMedia’s own learning management system (LMS) and can be tailored to any SCORM-based enterprise LMS.
The training value of Building Engineer will benefit the facilities management function of many organizations including federal, state, and municipal government agencies; hospitals and assisted living facilities; schools and universities; and commercial buildings. The skilled trades and industry trade associations can also take advantage of this proven learning tool. Many organizations and institutions will find the curriculum to be of great value as operational efficiency becomes increasingly tied to energy conservation and pollution reduction efforts.
“We’re excited about this new business venture and all indications point to MP being a huge success,” says Tom Held, President & CEO of MetaMedia Training International. “Our ‘sister’ company will seek to capitalize on the experience of more than 25 years of custom training delivered to the world’s leading organizations.”
Later in 2008, MetaMedia Publishing will release the first three DVD-based titles in its “Emergency Response” training series: Roles of Skilled Construction Workers in a Disaster Setting, Lessons Learned from Graniteville, and Responding to HAZMAT Incidents.
