METAMEDIA PUBLISHING TO EXHIBIT AT
2009 IAFC HAZARDOUS MATERIALS CONFERENCE
GERMANTOWN, MD— MetaMedia Publishing (MMP), the newly launched company from industry leader MetaMedia Training International, will demo its new Emergency Response training DVDs at the 2009 International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) International Hazardous Materials Response Conference in Hunt Valley, MD.
Held this year from May 28-30, the conference showcases presentations on new ideas and practical solutions to the toughest challenges facing today’s HAZMAT professionals. The attendee list of first responders, fire fighters, incident commanders, training and education staff, EMS directors, law enforcement personnel, HAZMAT technicians, fire chiefs, and more from across the US and the world is expected to make this one of the largest IAFC meetings yet.
MMP can be found in Booth 403, located within the IAFC’s Hot Zone Exhibit Space, along with its partner HazMatIQ.com. HazMatIQ was founded by Cris Aguirre and Joe Gorman, veteran first-responders with a combined 60 years of experience dealing with HAZMAT emergencies. Through innovative training techniques, the company teaches responders to safely and efficiently respond to hazardous chemical incidents. Aguirre and Gorman have created and developed the unique HazMatIQ “Above the Line/Below the Line” response system.
“There’s no better place to show off our new line of Emergency Response DVDs and HazMatIQ.com than at this year’s IAFC Conference,” said MetaMedia Publishing Vice President Chris Held. “This is where the foremost HAZMAT trainers, thought-leaders, and experts share the latest in hazardous response techniques and technology.”
Responding to HAZMAT Incidents incorporates compelling and realistic interactive video simulations of hazardous materials incidents, instructive computer animations, and team exercises to provide a training tool that drives home the critical knowledge that first-response teams need to have. High-quality motion video, interactive branching, 3D animations, multiple audio channels, and more bring real-world emergencies into the classroom. This program is based on an actual incident in which a sanitation worker was injured by spraying acid.
Based on the Norfolk Southern railroad derailment that released more than 11,000 gallons of chlorine gas in Graniteville, South Carolina in January 2005, Lessons Learned from Graniteville brings to life this catastrophic accident that resulted in 5 deaths and sent hundreds of people to hospitals in the classroom as part of a facilitated, small-group training exercise. Highly interactive and engaging, it offers a level of class participation using advanced DVD technologies that far surpasses any other training method available today.
Roles of Skilled Construction Workers in a Disaster Setting trains first responders on the varied roles that skilled construction support personnel play in managing disaster events. Veteran first responders walk viewers through their experiences at Ground Zero and a real-life garage collapse, while compelling computer animations and interactive branching bring a complete training solution that improves team readiness.
