METAMEDIA PUBLISHING TO DEMO BUILDING ENGINEER ONLINE CURRICULUM AT 2010 NFMT CONFERENCE AND EXPO

GERMANTOWN, MD
— MetaMedia Publishing (MMP) will feature its new Building Engineer online training courses at the 2010 National Facilities Management & Technology (NFMT) Conference & Expo.

The conference, which will be held March 16-18 in Baltimore, MD, is a major three-day event drawing engineering and maintenance directors as well as facility managers from commercial, institutional, governmental, and medical building types. Attendance from all 50 states and countries across the globe is expected to top 5,000 people.

MMP’s exhibit booth can be found in the Baltimore Convention Center in Booth 836.

“The 2009 NFMT conference provided us with an excellent spotlight for our Building Engineer program,” said MetaMedia Publishing President Donna Lynn. “For chief engineers and engineering supervisors looking to train their staff, this is the event to attend to watch interactive, live demonstrations of these courses and ask questions about curriculum content and delivery.”

MetaMedia’s booth will be open from 12-4 pm on Tuesday, March 16; 11 am-3 pm on Wednesday, March 17; and 11 am-2 pm on Thursday, March 18. Free demo presentations for each program module will be offered throughout each day.

The Building Engineer curriculum was originally created in partnership with a worldwide lodging industry leader and has been expanded to address many types of commercial facilities. Available online at http://www.metamediapublishing.com/productpage_BE.html, the course provides facilities engineering staff with a thorough understanding of the systems they maintain and the components making up those systems. Learning units include engineering systems and comfort, air distribution systems, boilers, cooling systems, building automation and controls, life safety systems, and indoor air quality.

Building Engineer weaves together interactive diagrams, quizzes, creative animation, and more to create a compelling learning experience that has received rave reviews from engineers across the country. It can be used as a stand-alone educational resource or complement traditional classroom training. The eight-hour online course is offered on MetaMedia’s learning management system (LMS) and can be tailored to any SCORM-based enterprise LMS.

The training value of Building Engineer will benefit the facilities management function of organizations including federal, state, and municipal government agencies; hospitals and assisted living facilities; schools and universities; and commercial buildings. The skilled trades and industry trade associations can also take advantage of this proven learning tool. Organizations and institutions will find the curriculum to be of great value as operational efficiency and conservation become increasingly reliant on cost savings and optimum staff training.
